In modern medicine, kidney transplantation has gained recognition as a curative therapy for various end-stage renal diseases. A problem exists when the demand for an organ significantly exceeds the supply from donation. Transplant tourism, or organ trafficking, presents a significant challenge to physicians, in terms of clinical outcomes and ethical considerations. In light of prior events and controversies, we wrote up an opinion editorial o address this issue.
