Abstract

In a context of growing needs, aging demographics and limited resources, redefining scope of practice rules for physicians appears as a promising solution to help overcome some of the current challenges in healthcare. Based on recent examples from the medical literature, this article illustrates how a strong multidisciplinary integration of physicians and nurses, pharmacists and physician assistants represents a concrete and innovative way to increase cost-effectiveness of healthcare systems.
