Call for Submissions: Winter 2015
The UTMJ is soliciting submissions for our Winter 2015 issue, on the theme of The Human Microbiome
UTMJ Winter Theme: The Human Microbiome
Over 100 trillion microbes live on and in each of us and is collectively referred to as our microbiome. From infancy to adulthood, these microbial communities are continually modified by diet, medications and the environment. Our understanding of the role of the human microbiome in health and disease is beginning to unfold. Perturbations in the human microbiome have been linked to chronic diseases such as obesity, heart disease, diabetes, celiac disease, and asthma. Only now are we beginning to appreciate its importance.
